April 21st 753 B. C. A group of farmers and shepherds get together on a
hill and decide to become citified. Things do not go smoothly as almost immediately two
twin brothers named Romulous and Remus get into a fight about who should lead the new
city. During the argument, Romulous kills Remus and a new polis with the name Rome after
the triumphant brother. Quite a bit more has happened in the history of Rome since this
founding event. Read more on the

called the Eternal City for no reason. The city has a dizzying array of things to see and
do. Most of the main sights are located conveniently near the city center and can be
reached easily on foot. Many cheap accommodations are available around the central
Termini Station or across the Tiber River in Trastevere. The city has population of 2.5
